Will Wilfried Zaha join Arsenal this summer?

We all talk about how Mohamed Salah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mane are the best African players in the Premier League, but there is one player we often miss out on; Wilfried Zaha. The Ivorian is one of the best forwards playing outside the top six in the English league, if not the best.

Currently valued at a staggering £100 million by his current employers, none of the clubs is likely to match that price tag. Reportedly, the fact that Crystal Palace sold their player of the season, Aaron Wan Bissaka, to Man United for a hefty sum of £50 million, they do not want to lose out on another world-class player in the same transfer window, and that is the reason why they have slapped such a high price tag on Zaha, to push away any clubs willing to sign him this term.

Also, the reason why Crystal Palace demand such a high fee for their star player is that Manchester United would get 25% of any fee if Zaha is transferred to some other club. So if Palace sells Zaha for €45 million, which is his current valuation, as per transfermarkt, they will receive only €33.75 million, according to the clause, which is why Palace are demanding such a massive fee for him.

However, Wilfried Zaha's brother, Judicael Zaha, told Sky Sports that it is the 26-year-old’s ambition to play European football for the club he has supported since childhood, which is Arsenal. Arsenal has had an opening bid of £40 million rejected by Crystal Palace, as it is nowhere near what the Palace officials demand.

The only way I can see this transfer happening is if Wilfried Zaha, who is currently on international duty, comes back and puts in a transfer request, though Palace believe their relationship with Zaha is long-standing and he will voluntarily resume practice sessions and training if a move to Arsenal does not materialize.

The possibility of this transfer is high, as Zaha's brother has openly admitted about his brother's aims for the season, and Arsenal are heavily interested in bringing the 26-year-old to the Emirates, which is why they will come up with an improved bid in the coming days, likely including a player in the bid as well. If Zaha lodges a transfer request, the transfer will turn out to be easier for Arsenal, and they might be able to get their man for a fee under £60 million.
