were
unable to convert any of their scoring chances in the first 45 minutes

Nigeria may have won the game but they didn't look in a position to do so during the first half. Iceland had numerous scoring chances in the first 45 minutes.

In just the second minute of the match, Gylfi Sigurdsson took a fine free-kick which was well saved by goalie Francis Uzoho. A few minutes later, the Evertonian took another shot which was saved by Uzoho.

Then with 10 minutes to go, Birkir Sævarsson made a fine run from the right flank and crossed into the Nigerian goal where Birkir Bjarnason and

Jón Daði Böðvarsson were present. Bjarnason had the best chance to take a shot but he couldn't get his left foot to touch the ball.

With seconds to go before injury time kicked in, Iceland had a free kick which went towards the Nigerian goal. The ball went towards Finnbogasson who was unable to get a touch on it. Had he even tapped it, Iceland would have been a goal up.

Unfortunately, Iceland could not come up with those many scoring chances in the second half.
