Roman Zobnin was Russia's unsung hero on the night

Russia was volatile on the night and played with a lot of tenacity, especially in midfield. That helped them press high up the pitch and create all kinds of problems for Egypt in the second half.

Roman Zobnin was involved at the heart of everything for the hosts in midfield as he dominated proceedings from the word go at the Saint Petersburg arena.

Zobnin played a vital role en route to Russia's opening goal of the game and also made 5 tackles and 4 interceptions while also winning 10 of 14 duels he contested on the night.

The only blotch on his image came late on when he gave away a penalty after tripping Salah, but it mattered very less thanks to Russia's commanding presence in midfield that had already helped them put the game to bed.

Even after going 3 goals up, Russia did not slow down and continued to showcase the electric pressing mentality that helped them crack the Pharaohs wide open.
