Cardiff City snap 3 players including Manchester United duo

Wilfried Zaha

Cardiff City are set to step up their transfer window activity this afternoon, with Sky Sports reporting that the Welsh club are currently running medicals for three players ahead of a triple transfer swoop.

The Premier League’s bottom side are close to signing Manchester United pair Wilfried Zaha and Fabio and Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones. Fabio and Jones are to join the club on permanent deals, whilst Zaha is set to sign a loan deal that will keep him in South Wales until the end of the season.

Manchester United left-back Fabio is reported to have completed his medical, leaving just the formalities to tie up ahead of his move. The defender has found himself down the pecking order at Old Trafford this season and is set to compete with Andrew Taylor for the left-back berth.

He is likely to be joined at the club by his Manchester United team-mate Zaha. The 21 year old has played just 30 minutes of football in the Premier League since his move from Crystal Palace and is to move to Cardiff on loan until the end of the season.

Stoke striker Jones is also reportedly undergoing a medical. His move is likely to be a permanent one, with Cardiff City striker Peter Odemwingie heading in the other direction.
