Ever since Jose Mourinho has been appointed Manchester United’s manager, there has been a buzz around Old Trafford and Carrington, which, to some extent, was missing since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. Amidst all the huff and puff, the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been the highlight. The talismanic Swede, who broke all kinds of records at Parc de Princes before joining United for free, started breaking milestones at the Manchester-based club as well, earlier than everyone expected him to, because after all, he is Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
During his medical, the 34-year-old broke the all-time power record at the 138-year-old club. Now, the former Barcelona player has thrashed another record at the club, but this time, this is something not related to his physicality or performance on the football pitch.
Ibrahimovic has set a social media record, as United’s official Instagram account’s post which announced Zlatan’s signing, became the legendary club’s most popular one till date. Surprisingly, the club have also confirmed on their official site that all their four Instagram posts on the Swede are among the top six most popular uploads.
Moreover, the post confirming Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s signing is the second most popular and is followed by Zlatan’s first image in a United shirt. Another sign that fans have welcomed the recent change at helm of the club and the signings with open arms is that nine of the top 10 most popular posts were posted after Jose Mourinho’s appointment as the manager (including the post announcing his appointment).
