What is the lore behind Game Knight in Fortnite?

There is no lore that ties the Game Knight to the storyline of Fortnite. The character was introduced to the Metaverse as part of the collaboration with Balenciaga. However, based on his design, it would appear that Epic Games took inspiration for him from Rust Lord. They share a few similarities, especially the headgear, which is very unique to Rust Lord. 

That said, this is where the similarities end. While Rust Lord looks rather plain and casual, Game Knight is decked up and made to look to impress. Given that Balenciaga is a luxury apparel brand, it fits in line with the design approach. The official in-game description for Game Knight reads, “So retro you can call it a renaissance.” This is in reference to the fact that the character wears a helmet that is likely made out of metal. This is what knights used in the renaissance period to protect their heads in combat.

Although the character is not a knight in the truest sense, but more of a fashion icon, he is still pretty amazing visually.
