Fortnite update 23.10 has been confirmed to be on schedule by Epic Games. This is the first major update of Chapter 4 Season 1 and will bring in Winterfest 2022 as well. Usually, the update will start at 4 am ET once the downtime is active.

As with every update, the servers will be taken offline 30 minutes prior to the downtime starting. To avoid losing in-game progression (especially for Save The World players), it's best for night owls to log off by 3 am latest.

How long will the Fortnite downtime last today (December 13)?

With this being the first major update of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 and perhaps the last one for this year, things could take a while. Epic Games will have to check all the files and assets for Winterfest 2022 to ensure everything is working as intended.

Based on rough estimates, the servers should be back online within three to four hours at max. With that said, players will have to patiently wait for the update to finish before hopping into the game again.

New content and changes for Fortnite update v23.10

The official tweet from Epic Games doesn't say much beyond the fact that the update is related to Winterfest 2022. Aside from teasing the return of Crackshot's Cabin, nothing else has been said. Nevertheless, since the Winterfests follow a pattern, it's easy to deduce the upcoming content in this update.

With half the island snowbound, the chances of having the entire island covered in snow is rather slim. More than likely, there will be snowfall activated across the island to make things more wintry-themed.

That said, it's doubtful that the remaining free-flowing rivers and lakes will freeze over. Since these are major fishing spots, cutting players off from them will not be a good design choice.

Aside from snowfall and frozen POIs, winter-themed items and weapons are bound to make a comeback. Chiller Grenade and Sneaky Snowman are at the top of the list. Other items such as Icy Grappler and Ice Cream should also be featured in-game.

Last but not least, the Item Shop will also be filled with Winterfest cosmetics. These should stay in rotation until the end of Christmas or until the new year begins. The first of many of these new cosmetics is Winter Wonder Skye.

With the My Hero Academia collaboration slated for December 16, players may get to witness the first glimpse of the cosmetics today during downtime. Apart from Deku and All Might, two other skins may be added in as well.

Given the scale of the outdoor advertising, the collaboration looks to be as large as Naruto and Dragon Ball. There's no doubt that Epic Games will look to capitalize on this as much as possible.

Aside from Winterfest 2022 and the MHA collaboration, the Fortnite v23.10 update will also contain weekly challenges, minor bug fixes, and perhaps even a bit of storyline-related content. The contents of the three hidden pages for Battle Pass Bonus Rewards should also be revealed today.
