Fortnite hints at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collab after Manholes in-game start acting up

Epic Games has a habit of leaving teasers in Fortnite to hint at upcoming collaborations. Given that they often use the game itself as a medium of promotion, the community is always on the lookout for clues.

Speaking of hints and clues, a player has come across some suspicious activity in a POI known as Slappy Shores. This location houses the Slap factory and is the hub from which all 'Slap Juice' on the island is produced. However, the star of the show at the moment is an inconspicuous-looking manhole.

There's something in the sewers beneath Slappy Shores in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1

Spotted by Reddit user "McJellyDonuts," there's a manhole in Slappy Shores emitting a strange noise. Although it's faint in nature, it becomes audible as soon as players get close to it. While it's hard to describe the sound, there seems to be something in the sewers beneath the location. What can it be?

Logic would dictate that it's merely the sound of the runoff from the Slap factory in the area. Given that Slap Berries have to be processed to make the juice, there's a lot of waste material that would go down the drain pipe. However, considering that this is Fortnite, that would be highly unlikely.

According to the community, it could be Epic Games' developers trying to leave easter eggs hinting at an upcoming collaboration with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Considering the fact that they live in the sewer, the sound coming from the manhole could be an echo of their voices.

While their presence on the island in Chapter 4 may seem unexplainable, it's good to remember that the map was formed using pieces from different realities. Perhaps one of these pieces was from theirs. After the island forged together, they made their way to the sewer below the Slap factory and created a home for themselves.

When could a potential Fortnite x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration take place?

With nothing to go on apart from wishful thinking, Chapter 4 Season 3 is the probable timeline for a potential collaboration. Bearing in mind that the upcoming TMNT movie being produced by Seth Rogen is scheduled for release in August 2023, it falls within the Chapter 4 Season 3 timeline.

If the timing is right, the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may feature as Fortnite Battle Pass cosmetics. Since Epic Games has introduced many comic/movie characters in this manner, it would make complete sense.

Furthermore, with the community already harping at the possibility of a collaboration, things are already looking up. Here's what a few fans have to say about this:

Aside from players being able to cosplay as Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael to form the ultimate squad, it would make for interesting cosmetics in-game. While the skins may seem a bit bulky, given that Master Chief and Doom Slayer can become skins in-game, walking-talking turtles are no big deal.

With all that said, it's left to be seen if this collaboration comes to fruition in Chapter 4. With so much going on at the moment in terms of storyline progression and character arcs, there 'may' not be enough space for four anthropomorphic turtles in Fortnite.
