On February 9, 2023, Epic Games officially launched the PostParty' application for Fortnite and Rocket League. To encourage players to use this application, a free Wrap (Post That!) and Spray (Postparty Confetti) were provided to those curious enough to download and use it.

However, considering that Replay Mode' is still the norm, after receiving the rewards, many fans decided to log out from PostParty. To their horror and dismay, instead of simply logging out, players ended up unintentionally deleting their Epic Games accounts.

How 'not' to accidentally delete your Epic Games (Fortnite) account while using the 'PostParty App'

With the PostParty App drawing in plenty of users by offering freebies, many took a plunge of faith to receive a Wrap and Spray as rewards. Once done, they will naturally head to the app's settings and click on the 'Delete account' option to supposedly delete their PostParty account.

Unfortunately, it was soon realized that it wasn't the PostParty account that was being deleted. Within a few hours, reports began coming in that players were unintentionally deleting their Epic Games accounts from within the PostParty App. It wasn't long before this issue was identified and a post was quickly uploaded on Reddit:

According to users, there's no way to unlink or disconnect the PostParty application's association with Fortnite or Rocket League. This led many to believe that hitting the 'Delete account' option from within the application was the only way to go about things.

It wasn't long before the issue caught the attention of Epic Games employees. With some of them being active on social media, they rushed to address the problem on Reddit:

"Our team is investigating how we can make this clearer in the app that 'Delete Account' refers to your Epic Games account and provide a simpler option to disconnect your account from making PostParty clips."

Although an official statement was provided, the community is clearly unhappy with this series of events. According to many fans, linking the Delete account option to the Epic Games account instead of the PostParty app itself was a terrible choice. Here's what users have to say:

Besides this issue, many users also questioned as to why an external application needed a 'Delete account' feature to begin with. Since it's not directly associated with Fortnite, this made little to no sense.

One diligent user spotted a flaw in Epic Games' EULA (End User License Agreement) segment. According to the user, it states that players can terminate the PostParty agreement by uninstalling the app on all the devices they installed it on.

Doing this, however, doesn't stop PostParty from being connected to the account(s) in question or from still being able to record and upload videos from the user's Fortnite account. This is potentially something that the the developers will have to fix as well.

Is it safe to use PostParty to make clips for Fortnite?

Yes, the PostParty application is safe to use. Given that it's directly controlled by Epic Games to a large extent, there are no privacy concerns. With that being said, players should be aware of the aforementioned problems that have been discovered recently.

Once the application has been linked to Fortnite or Rocket League, there's no way to disconnect it from either one of these games. If this isn't a problem, then downloading the application makes sense.

However, for those who aren't comfortable with the situation, they should wait until Epic Games fixes the problem before downloading the application. With that said, it's unclear how long the freebies will be up for grabs.
