Fortnite iOS has undoubtedly had a rocky journey, to say the least. Over the years, Epic Games and Apple have had disputes about the game's iOS version. While there is no conclusion in sight, certain developments in the EU have confirmed that Fortnite iOS will be released on Apple devices, at least in that region. It seems like Epic Games might be getting things ready for that by testing the v30.40 on iOS devices.
This was pointed out by veteran leaker and data miner ShiinaBR, who revealed how Epic Games has pushed the v30.40 update of the game as a version for the iPhone. If this turns out to be true, it can be seen as a sign that the Epic Games Store will likely be available soon on iOS devices in the EU region.

Epic Games testing Fortnite iOS with the v30.40 update can definitely be seen as a sign that the developers are checking to see how the game runs on iOS devices. Fortnite has been stuck in Chapter 2 Season 3 on iOS devices, so it makes sense for Epic Games to test newer versions of the game to make sure everything is intact for an eventual release.
Additionally, this could spell good news for the Epic Games Store, Epic Games' digital storefront, which will be the gateway to download Fortnite on iOS devices in the EU region. With the tests for v30.40 supposedly going on, the Epic Games Store could be in its final leg of development as it is reasonable to believe that the developers would want Fortnite ready to be downloaded as soon as the Epic Games Store goes live.
While all of this is certainly good news for Fortnite iOS, it does not guarantee its release on any specific date. Epic Games has previously communicated that the Epic Games Store will be released on iOS devices in Q4 of 2024. With Chapter 5 only having a couple of seasons to go before ending, the developers may release the Epic Games Store on iOS alongside Chapter 6.
However, at this point, this is purely speculation and only time will tell when the Epic Games Store will be made available to iOS users in the EU region.
