Epic Games recently shared some big news regarding Fortnite Creative 2.0 maps as well. Tim Sweeney and Saxs Persson, the company's CEO and Vice President, respectively, had an interview with SypherPK, a popular Fortnite content creator. They revealed a lot of important things, including the future of the game.

Many Fortnite Creative 2.0 maps are being developed at the moment and the fanbase can't wait for them to come out. Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) was released on March 22, and many players are learning how to use it properly. Fortunately, they won't have to download Fortnite Battle Royale in the future to enjoy the new maps.

Creative 2.0 is the future of the title and Epic Games has big plans for it. The ultimate goal is to allow players and developers to create their own AAA games within Fortnite, which is incredible.

SypherPK had a chance to talk to two prominent people from Epic Games, which is why he asked several important questions. The popular streamer wondered if it would be possible to access Creative 2.0 maps without downloading Fortnite Battle Royale.

It turns out that Epic is already working on this and the structure of the video game will completely change in the future. More precisely, the Battle Royale mode will not be the title's primary offering.

You can see the question at the 6:02 mark in the video above.

Here's what Sax Persson, Epic Games Vice President, had to say in response to SypherPK's query:

"We are in the middle of slimming down the base install of Fortnite to the bare minimum and Battle Royale being a downloadable. That means that slim client plus your horror map is all you would need to download. We think it's pivotal for wide adoption that it doesn't come with a payload of five years of content, which is what Battle Royale comes with."

At the moment, there is no way to play Fortnite Creative 2.0 maps without downloading the entire game. This is a big problem for players who exclusively play the Creative mode as they don't want to spend more than 20 gigabytes of storage on something they won't use.

However, this will change in the future as they will only need to download a tiny base client and a custom map they want to play on. Fortnite Battle Royale will be an optional mode that will be downloadable through the main client.
