J Balvin has had a large presence in Fortnite, with the global reggaeton sensation becoming a part of the game's Icon Series back in Chapter 2 Season 7 and even having the J Balvin Cup for players to get a chance at acquiring his skin for free. However, with the recent release of the new Inferno Skeleton Balvin skin, the community is up in arms about how Epic Games has essentially recolored a previous style for the artist.

This is highlighted in a recent Reddit post shared by u/MeowsclesOnlyfans, where the player showcased the similarities between the Inferno Skeleton Balvin skin and the Skeleton Balvin style for the J Balvin skin. The player not only pointed out the similarities but also voiced their opinion on Fortnite selling the skin in the Item Shop, stating:

"They're literally just selling a recolor for 1,500 V-Bucks"

Reddit user u/TheSophWalrus expressed their disappointment that the new skin isn't just a style and how they will be passing on the outfit. Reddit user u/Elbie3coolgamer highlighted how this has become an increasingly noticeable practice within the game, pointing out how the recent Aang skin and the Avatar State Aang outfit were separate outfits.

Reddit user u/PerpetualPermaban2 added to the discussion and highlighted how Fortnite did the same with Yuji Itadori from Jujutsu Kaisen, where the Streetwear Yuji Itadori skin was sold separately and not as a style. Expressing their frustration while expressing their intention to not buy the Inferno Skeleton Balvin skin, Reddit user u/Swimming_Pie_1723 commented:

"Not buying a skin just for colour epic are ripping it now"

How to get the Inferno Skeleton Balvin skin in Fortnite?

The Inferno Skeleton Balvin skin is a new Icon Series outfit introduced in Chapter 5 Season 2 as part of a collaboration with Coachella, and it comes in as the third separate J Balvin skin added to the game. While the outfit has become a point of contention for members of the community, you can still try the skin out for yourself and see how you feel.

At the time of writing (April 21, 2024), the Inferno Skeleton Balvin skin is available in the Item Shop for 1500 V-Bucks. If you want to add this skin to your inventory, you should do so before the outfit is rotated out of the Item Shop, potentially after the Coachella weekend has ended.
