Fortnite's dynamic landscape and overall nature allow players to constantly experiment and explore different playstyles and approaches to elimination. This can lead to some truly breathtaking displays of skill during a match, with players utilizing their knowledge of the game's mechanics to turn the tide in their favor.

This is perfectly highlighted in a recent clip shared by u/DamnHare, showcasing moments where the player, donning the Aang skin and the Xenomorph skin, eliminated enemies in Ranked matches by knocking them off tall structures. The montage has been attracting a lot of attention from the Fortnite community, with Reddit user DarkLink649, highlighting the nature of the moments, stating:

Other community members also chimed in to give their takes on the player's brilliant strategy, with mushupork8069 expressing their appreciation for the tactic while complimenting the Wheelie Back Bling. BackHatMae_FN, while recognizing the strategy's potency, highlighted how they avoid this by mantling on top of the ascender when using one.

Additionally, iComplainAlot_ discovered that sliding into enemies can bump them away, a tactic that can certainly be useful in tense situations. Joking about how competitive players would react to the strategy displayed in the Reddit clip, Jiggle_deez commented:

"I dare you to post this in r/Fortnitecompetitive and watch them get mad for 'not playing the game right' lol"

How to use the sliding mechanic effectively during combat in Fortnite?

While the sliding movement ability has been a part of the game for quite some time, many players are still unaware of how to use this small but significant movement mechanic to their advantage in combat. When in battle, the mechanic can be a great way to knock enemies off of height to not only have a chance at them being eliminated to fall damage but also to gain high ground on the enemy in case they survive.

As highlighted in the Reddit clip, it can be quite difficult to orchestrate eliminations solely based on this strategy, especially in Chapter 5 Season 2, which is filled with items that can help players negate fall damage completely.

However, new map changes have also brought towering POIs (Points of Interest) such as Mount Olympus, so ensnaring an enemy and tricking them into climbing one of the tall structures can be an effective strategy when trying this strategy for yourself.
