Zero Point Dash is a unique status effect in Fortnite. It gives the user the ability to dash through the air by being able to phase through spacetime itself. Once imbued with this power, players can teleport short distances by pressing the jump button mid-air.

The Zero Point Dash effect can be gained in numerous ways in-game. However, in Chapter 4 Season 1, there's only one way to obtain this status effect. Players have to get the Zero Chance Reality Augment and break an enemy's shield to be able to perform a Zero Point Dash.

How to use the Zero Point Dash in Fortnite?

Despite being rather straightforward, the Zero Point Dash effect's in-game utility cannot be underestimated. Skilled players can use this status effect to pull off some amazing tactical maneuvers during combat. Here are a few ways in which it can be used:

1) Confuse opponents by changing direction

During build-fights and engagements in tight spaces, the Zero Point Dash can be used to rapidly change direction and confuse opponents. Players can create space between them and the target or change direction to get behind them and shoot them in the back.

While this tactic will work wonders in Zero Build Mode, players should have success in Build Mode as well. With a bit of practice, it's possible to 'dash' into an opponent's box before they can build a wall for protection.

2) Close the gap during a fight

With DMR, Scar, and Red-Eye AR in the loot pool, mid-range combat has become the in-game norm. Players often keep their distance and lay down fire to chip away at an opponent's health/shield points. Unless a Cow Catcher or some hard-cover can be found, there's no way to avoid sustaining damage.

Be that as it may, given the map's layout, it's easy for opponents to rotate to safety and avoid being eliminated. This is where the 'dash' effect can be used to rapidly close the gap and go in for the final blow. Rather than wasting ammo and watching the opponent leave the field of view, players can dash in and finish the job.

3) Combine with other Reality Augments and/or items/weapons to gain a tactical advantage

While the 'dash' effect is already powerful in itself, with a bit of experimentation, players can double down and increase their potential by manyfold. When combining the Zero Point Dash effect with other Reality Augments such as 'Soaring Sprints' and 'Danger Hero,' players can gain insane amounts of mobility.

In combat, they can pair this status effect with certain items and weapons to gain a tactical advantage. For instance, instead of using the Shockwave Hammer's special attack to close the gap, players can simply 'dash' through the air. This will conserve the special attack's charge for critical moments when it is required.

To an extent, the Zero Point Dash can also be used to escape the dreaded Deku's Smash Mythic. With the right timing, players can get out of the blast radius and counterattack their opponents with ease. Once practiced enough, this is quite possibly the best way to avoid being blasted into oblivion.
