The Skull Trooper skin in Fortnite is one of the most recognizable cosmetics and has become synonymous with the game. Added during the game's very first Halloween event, Fortnitemares, the skin features a person in an all-black outfit that's painted over with a skeleton design, capturing the Halloween spirit.

Despite the design scheme being quite basic, the Skull Trooper skin in Fortnite has garnered a massive following. This is due to it being released during Fortnite's OG days and its relation to the first-ever seasonal in-game event. Since then, the Skull Trooper skin in Fortnite has received many new styles and looks that further emphasize his position within the game's vast cosmetic library.

Despite Skull Trooper's presence within Fortnite's vast cosmetic library, he does not play a massive role in the game's ever-expansive storyline. Despite not having a place in the lore at the time of release, future seasons and added content have proven how he could be significant in the storyline.

This is because Skull Trooper uses the Jonesy character model. Jonesy is a default skin and the very first snapshot left by Agent Jones after his visit to the Loop. Since a character leaves a snapshot behind every time they leave the Loop, Skull Trooper is seen as one of Agent Jones' many snapshots over the years.

While not known to many, the Skull Trooper skin in Fortnite takes inspiration from The Karate Kid, the classic martial arts film starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. In the film, there is a Halloween fight scene where bullies dressed as skeletons similar to the Skull Trooper attack Daniel, the protagonist.

The Skull Trooper skin in Fortnite bears a heavy resemblance to the outfits worn by the bullies in The Karate Kid. Not only does this add to the Halloween vibe of the Skull Trooper skin in Fortnite but makes for a nice real-life Easter egg to the already intriguing outfit.

The Skull Trooper skin was first introduced in the Fortnite Item Shop back in Chapter 1 Season 1 on October 26, 2017, with the v1.8 update. This makes Skull Trooper one of the first-ever skins to be added to Fortnite at a time when Battle Passes were not even a thing.

The Skull Trooper skin was last seen in the Fortnite Item Shop on July 1, 2024. Despite being one of the most OG skins a player can own, it is a regular in the Fortnite Item Shop. You can even check into the Fortnite Item Shop tomorrow to see if Epic Games brings Skull Trooper back as part of its usual Item Shop rotations.
