Processor

The Meta Quest 3 is powered by the powerful Snapdragon XR2 Gen2 processor, which is effective in rendering high-quality visuals. It gives Meta's VR headset an edge over the PlayStation VR2, which utilizes the custom MediaTek processors.

Display

In terms of display, the PlayStation VR2 surpasses the Meta Quest 3 with its OLED panel. Priced at $499.99, the Meta's VR headset offers an LED display, which is definitely the biggest con of this VR headset.

Sensors

The Meta’s headset comes with an Integrated insight sensor. This offers a 6-degree Freedom head and hand tracking. On the other hand, the PlayStation’s headset has an edge in this sector, offering some crucial sensors, including a Six-axis motion sensing system (three-axis gyroscope, three-axis accelerometer).

Connectivity

The biggest disadvantage of the PlayStation VR2 headset is the connectivity, as it offers a wired connection. This restricts mobility to a great extent. In contrast, the Meta Quest 3, offers a wireless connection, making cable cluttering and movement restriction non-existent.

Refresh rates and resolution

Both headsets come with 120Hz refresh rates. However, Meta’s Quest 3 has a resolution of 2064 x 2208, compared to the PlayStation VR2's 2000 x 2040, which is not a huge drawback.

Price comparison

Normally, the two headsets' prices differ by $50.99. The Meta’s VR headset costs $499, while the PlayStation VR costs $549.99. That said, during this Black Friday sale, you can get the PlayStation VR2 for $349.99 from the Best Buy website and save $200 on the original price.

Conclusion

After considering the specifications, Meta Quest 3 is the clear winner. Both headsets have their pros and cons. However, the $200 discount being offered on the PlayStation VR this Black Friday sale, is quite lucrative. At the $349.99 price range, you won't get any better VR in the current market.

All that said, if you can extend your budget to $500, the Meta Quest 3 is highly recommended.
