Developers Atlus have released the first bit of gameplay footage for their upcoming RPG, Persona 5. The game is the fifth title in the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series, which is part of the larger Megami Tensei game franchise. The trailer looks pretty impressive and stylish with fluid animation and much improved graphics compared to other titles in the Shin Megami Tensei series. The video also reveals some of the games lead characters.

Producer, Katsura Hashino, had the following to say about the game in a letter he wrote to fans of the series: “This time, it’s about a group of high school students that are being “chased” by unexpected occurrences due to the justice they believe in. We’re writing [the story] to convey a thrilling everyday life in the shoes of these characters, that are as large as life, in this juvenile school setting.”

Hashino has also stated that the game is more evolved with improvements for both the graphics and sound. You can head over to Silicon Era if you want to read the full letter by Hashino.

Another interesting bit to note about the Persona 5 is its ‘thematic’ colour. As seen in the trailer, the theme this time is Red while previous games Persona 3 and 4 was blue and yellow respectively.

Persona 5 is slated to release in 2015 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Be sure to check out the first gameplay trailer for Persona 5 below:
