FIFA 18 pre-order date revealed?

What’s the story?

FIFA 18 is all set to break sports console gaming records later this year, and fans of the popular game are eagerly awaiting its date of release. As with every year, EA Sports will release the full version of FIFA 18 in early September, right after the end of the summer transfer window.

For those who can’t control their excitement, there is good news. According to Dream Team FC, the date for pre-ordering the game should be less than a month away.

The context

Last year, EA Sports started accepting pre-orders for FIFA 17 on June 6th, hence a similar date is expected this year as well. While nothing has yet been confirmed, EA Sports is likely to roll out a trailer for the game this month before pre-ordering starts.

In FIFA 17, consumers had the luxury of choosing from three different game editions. The same pattern is set to continue for FIFA 18 as well, but EA Sports might come up with different names to lend their newest offering a fresh feel.

The three different editions of FIFA 17 were Standard, Deluxe and Super Deluxe. While the price for the Standard edition started at £49.99, the price for the Super Deluxe edition was around £80.

The heart of the matter

In FIFA 17, the Standard edition contained up to five FUT Draft Tokens (one per week over five weeks — worth up to $15), eight match FUT loan item of Hazard, Martial, Reus, or Rodriguez, and custom FUT kits created by designers or FIFA soundtrack artists, apart from the full game, of course.

The Deluxe edition of FIFA 17 contained up to 20 FIFA Ultimate Team Jumbo Premium Gold Packs (one per week over 20 weeks — worth up to $60), three match FUT Team of the Week loan player (up to one player per week over 20 weeks), eight match FUT loan item of Hazard, Martial, Reus, or Rodriguez, and custom FUT kits created by designers or FIFA soundtrack artists.

The Super Deluxe edition had the best package of the three as it contained up to 40 FIFA Ultimate Team Jumbo Premium Gold Packs (two per week over 20 weeks — worth up to $120), three match FUT Team of the Week loan player (up to two players per week over 20 weeks), eight match FUT loan item of Hazard, Martial, Reus, or Rodriguez, and custom FUT kits created by designers or FIFA soundtrack artists.

What’s next?

The price range for different editions of FIFA 18 is likely to remain the same as FIFA 17’s, and given the popularity of FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT), it is expected EA Sports will offer more incentives in all the editions this year. That said, nothing has yet been announced, hence fans of the game could expect further surprises in FIFA 18.

Author’s take

A similar edition structure is expected to be followed this year as well, as FIFA 18 aspires to become the highest grossing football console game ever with fans queuing up to bag a copy of the game like never before. Mark your dates, as the first week of June is most likely to bring good news for all FIFA fanatics out there.
