The England Lions (equivalent of England A) will be travelling Down Under for a limited-overs and four-day Tests series from 2 February to 5 March 2020. The England Lions tour of Australia 2020 will be like a mini-version of the Ashes series as the A-level teams of both countries will be pitted against each other.
The series will have five one-day games that will be considered as ‘List A’ games followed by three four-day games which will be considered as ‘First Class’ matches. One of the multi-day games will be a Day/Night affair, which will see a lot of players getting a first look at the pink Kookaburra ball.
The England Lions in Australia will begin their tour in the Gold Coast. The first three one-day games between England Lions and Cricket Australia XI will be played at the Metricon in Gold Coast on 2, 4 and 6 February 2020.
The teams will then move to Sydney for the remaining two limited-overs matches against New South Wales XI. The fourth and fifth one-day will be played on 9 and 11 February at the Drummoyne Oval in Sydney.
White-ball cricket will be followed by three ‘First Class’ games. The first match will be played at the Blundstone Arena in Hobart from 15 to 18 February 2020 between the England Lions and Cricket Australia XI.
The second match will be an interesting affair between the England Lions and Australia A. It will be a Day/Night game at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground from 22 to 25 February 2020. This match will be a first with the pink ball for a lot of players from both sides.
The final match of the England Lions tour of Australia will feature the New South Wales XI. The match will be played from 2 to 5 March 2020 at the North Dalton Park in Wollongong.
