After a disastrous World Cup 2019, the Proteas are scheduled to tour India in the month of September 2019. The two teams will be playing 3 T20Is and 3 Tests from 15 September 2019 to 23 October 2019. This will be India’s second series since the World Cup while the South African team had a long break since the mega event.
The No. 3 ranked Proteas will take on the No. 4 ranked Indian side in three T20Is on 15 September, 18 September and 22 September at Dharamshala, Mohali and Bengaluru respectively. The series will be one to watch out for given that both sides have exciting T20 players in their ranks. So far in IND vs SA T20Is, India have won 8 games which is three more than South Africa while one match got abandoned.
The shortest format of the game will be followed by the longest. The winner of the Test series wins the ‘Gandhi-Mandela Trophy’ which is also known as ‘Freedom Trophy’. In Tests, both sides feature in the Top 3 of the ICC Test Team Rankings. The quality of cricket played will be proof of their rankings as some of the world's best cricketers lock horns for three Tests. The Test matches will commence on 2 October, 10 October and 19 October. The venues for these matches are Visakhapatnam, Ranchi and Pune respectively. In 33 India vs South Africa Tests so far, the latter have won 15, the former have won 8 and the remaining 10 matches ended in a draw.
