With a new period ahead in front of them, all eyes will be on India Women as new head coach WV Raman will take charge of his team in their first competitive action together. The Indian Women travel to New Zealand in January, where they will play three One Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals. The Tour begins on 24th January with the first ODI, and will conclude on 10th February with the final T20I.
The team for India Women was named one day after the appointment of WV Raman, which saw the exclusion of experienced Veda Krishnamurthy after a string of dismal performances in recent matches. She has been replaced by Mona Meshram.
On the other hand, the Kiwis have recalled Katie Perkins who hasn’t represented her country in 14 months, after her splendid performance in the ongoing Women’s One Day competition for Auckland.
The last time the two sides met was in the ICC Women’s World T20 2018 in the Caribbeans. India Women won the match by 34 runs as the-then captain and current vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur notched up 103 runs, as India comfortably won the match.
