Spain Masters Badminton 2019

The Spain Masters is a competitive badminton tournament, which is held annually in Madrid, Spain since the year 1974. It is also a part of the BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament and comes under 11 Super 300 level tournaments on the Tour.


The tournament will be held from 19th to 24th February 2019.


Venue


The Barcelona Spain Masters will take place in Vall d'Hebron Olympic Sports Centre, Barcelona, Spain.


Prize Money


Prize Money of the 2019 Spain Masters is USD 150,000.

Past Winners


At the 2018 Spain Masters, Rasmus Gemke was the winner of Men’s singles category, while Minatsu Mitani won in the Women’s singles category. South Korean duo of Kim Gi-jung and Lee Yong-dae were crowned the men's doubles winners, Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara of Japan won the women's doubles and Denmark's Niclas Nøhr and Sara Thygesen won the mixed doubles title.


Favorites


For the Men’s Singles category, Viktor Axelsen of Denmark will be the favorite to win the tournament. He is also the top seeded men's player at the tournament. He will have a tough competition from his fellow countrymen Rasmus Gemke, Anders Antonsen and Jan Ø. Jørgensen, who are seeded second, third and fifth respectiely.


Sourabh Verma, Parupalli Kashyap and Ajay Jayaram will be the Indian representatives at the Barcelona Spain Masters 2019.


China's Han Yue is the top seeded women's singles player at the 2019 Spain Masters. Denmark's Mia Blichfeldt is second seeded while Han's counterpart, Cai Yanyan, is the third seed. With the reent conclusion of the national badminton championships in India, no Indian women shuttlers are participating in the women's singles at Barcelona.
