Some of the biggest names in Indian cricket will be in action during the premier domestic T20 tournament of the country, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. This competition has given many superstars to Indian cricket.

The BCCI successfully organized the 2020-21 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in bio-bubbles earlier this year in India. Now, the board is set to conduct the 2021-22 edition of the tournament from November 4, 2021 to November 22, 2021. A total of 105 T20 matches will take place during this period, with one of the 38 teams emerging as champions.
The first edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy happened in 2006-07. Baroda, Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have been the most successful teams in the competition’s history. All four sides have won two championships each.
Baroda’s batter Kedar Devdhar has been the highest run-getter in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history, with 2215 runs. Gujarat’s leg-spinner Piyush Chawla is the leading wicket-taker with 85 wickets.
There are 38 teams in this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The organizers have divided all teams into six groups. Five of them are elite groups, while the last one is the plate group. The elite groups comprise six teams each and the remaining eight sides have been placed in the plate group.
There will be three pre-quarterfinals and four quarterfinals after the group stage ends. The winners of the quarterfinals will progress to the semifinals and then the two winning semi finalists will advance to the summit clash which will determine the champion.

Eight venues across India, namely Delhi, Vadodara, Guwahati, Lahli, Lucknow, Mulapadu, Sultanpur and Mangalagiri will host the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 matches. The knockout matches will happen at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Selected matches of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 will be streamed live on Disney+ Hotstar. Some matches will also be telecasted on the Star Sports network.
