This year's RBC Canadian Open just ended with Ryan Fox earning the title after four rounds. The professional golfer from New Zealand defeated Sam Burns in a sudden death playoff, winning the tournament with 18 under par score.
In the event, numerous PGA Tour stars were set to make a run for the title. However, a lot of them ended up scoring outside the top 10, and some of them couldn't even make it past the cut. The $9,800,000 event at Osprey Valley saw some disappointing finishes of the week, including the 2025 Masters winner.
Here's a detailed analysis at some of the unexpected finishes at 2025 RBC Canadian Open. Take a look:
1. Rory McIlroy at RBC Canadian Open

The PGA Tour veteran was coming off a fresh driver switch. In the tournament, McIlroy hit about 42 to 46% fairways and lost 2.2 strokes off the tee. McIlroy ultimately finished the RBC Canadian Open with a 9 over par score, with an overall 71 (R1) and 78 (R2).
The Holywood-native ended up missing the cut by 12 strokes. His quadruple bogey on the par 4 hole 5 of round 2 derailed his run at TPC Toronto.
2. Robert MacIntyre

MacIntyre was defending his 2024 RBC Canadian Open title at Osprey Valley last week. Even though he had a strong first round, the PGA Tour pro faced multiple setbacks during the second round.
While playing on the par 3 hole 11 in Round 2, MacIntyre's shot fell into the water, resulting in a double bogey. He managed to finish that round with 2 over par 72. He ended the tournament by tying at the 36th place on the leaderboard with a total 9 under par score.
3. Luke Clanton

Clanton was making his professional debut under the Tour at this year's RBC Canadian Open. He was ready to tee off with PGA Tour stars Ludvig Aberg and McIlroy.
The McCormack Medal winner ultimately failed to make it past the cut line at TPC Toronto. Clanton shot two rounds with 70 and 69, ultimately finishing with a 1 under par score, missing the cut by just two strokes. The 21-year old hit a total five birdies and four bogeys throughout the event.
4. Sungjae lm

Sungjae lm was one of the pros who missed the cut at TPC Toronto. When he finished the opening round with a 72 (+2), Im was already on the way of not making it past the cutline like a lot of popular Tour players.
He finished the PGA Tour event with an even par score (140) and an overall 72-68 through 36 holes. It's worth noting that this is by far Im's fifth missed cut on the PGA Tour this season. This is quite unexpected from Im, considering his records on the Tour.
5. Gary Woodland

Woodland was among the popular names who missed the cut, and his performance was unexpected. In this year's Canadian Open, the American finished the event with a total of 1 over par 141.
The PGA Tour pro scored an overall 70-71 through 36 holes. One of Woodland's setbacks was on Friday when he dropped four bogeys over a five-hole stretch.
