The Indian golf team is eyeing medals in the Asian Games 2023 as they will kickstart their campaign on 28th September, Thursday.
India will look to add to their tally of six medals, including three golds and three silvers across golf's team events and individual events in the Asian Games since 1982.
India have sent a seven-member contingent that will be competing in four different categories of golf. Veteran golfer Anirban Lahiri will lead the Indian team as he was one of the three golfers alongside Shubhankar Sharma and Aditi Ashok to get a direct entry to the Indian squad for the Asian Games 2023, courtesy of their world rankings.
Meanwhile, Avani Prashanth and Pranavi Urs also found a place in the women's squad after finishing at the top in the trials held in Kolkata earlier this year. Both youngsters tied for first place during the trials.
Regarding the men's team, Anirban Lahiri will bring a ton of experience to the Indian squad. He already has the experience of representing India in multiple international events, including the Olympics.
Meanwhile, Shubhankar Sharma also got a direct entry to the squad after his noteworthy performances on the European Tour. Khalin Joshi and SSP Chawrasia will complete the men's squad for the Asian Games.
Khalin Joshi finished in first place during the men's trials with a score of 13-under 203, while SSP Chawrasia followed him in second place with a score of 11-under 205.
