In the post-tournament interview with NBC Sports, the 57-year-old American dedicated his win to his father Bob Stricker. Steve said, via PGA Tour Champions:

"You know, we lost my dad in January, and I was trying to win one so bad. He was the guy who showed me the game, and I owe him everything, really. You know, we miss him a lot, but that was the guy that showed me the game, how to act on the course."

Stricker's father Bob passed away at the age of 86. According to the Wisconsin Golf website, Bob was a successful high school golfer and led Edgerton to several state tournament appearances. He taught Steve Stricker golf at a local nine-hole course in Edgerton, Wisconsin.

Stricker further said:

"Just to be a professional, and we all miss him. Well, he got to see one heck of a year last year with six victories, and you know he's looking down on this one. Yeah, I appreciate it. I was putting some extra pressure on myself to try to win one, and just dedicate a win to him. And finally did. Got my monkey off my back, and this one's for my dad."
