"Hopefully it's not an issue" – LPGA rookie Malia Nam on giving out tickets for the Lotte Championship

LPGA rookie Malia Nam hails from Kailua, Hawaii. This week, she will be competing for the first time in Hawaii on the LPGA Tour. The 2024 Lotte Championship will be held at Hoakalei Country Club in Ewa Beach, Hawaii from Thursday, November 6 to 9, 2024.

In the pre-tournament press conference, Nam shared that her earliest memories of the Lotte Championship were when Brooke Henderson won the tournament in 2018 and 2019.

Nam mentioned that as a young girl from Hawaii, she felt "outcasted" as not many PGA and LPGA Tour events were held in Hawaii. She said that Lotte Championship being held in Hawaii has been a big deal for the golf community in the state. When asked how many tickets has she given out this week, she said with a laugh (via ASAP Sports),

"Oh, my gosh. My phone is blowing up about the tickets. I have to ask how many tickets I can get. Hopefully it's not an issue"

Malia Nam went to the Kaiser High School in Kailua, Hawaii, and is a communication major from the University of Southern California.

The tournament will be crucial for her as it comes with the additional responsibility of performing well on home turf. She comes to the tournament after two consecutive missed cuts.

Talking about her rookie season, she said:

"Definitely a lot of learning experiences. I've had a great time honestly traveling the country playing really great courses, meeting a bunch of great people, making friends on Tour.

"I've really been enjoying my rookie year. With that there has been definitely a lot of learning experiences. I think that's all part of the process of having a great career out here."

Malia Nam will tee off with Lindy Duncan and Jeongeun Lee at 07:07 AM local time at the tournament. The winner of the 2024 Lotte Championship will win a prize money of $450,000 from a total purse of $3 million.
