The 2023 Players Championship is set to tee off on Thursday, March 9. The PGA Tour's flagship event, held at the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, will see some of the world's top golfers compete against each other.

The event, headlined by the likes of Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy, among others, has a record-setting prize purse of $25 million. Following the PGA Tour’s prize distribution system, the winner of the Players Championship will receive a whopping $4.5 million. Meanwhile, the runner-up will settle for $2,725,000.

The event, which will feature a field of eight past champions and six FedEx Cup winners, will even see the solo fifth-place finisher earn over $1 million. From the 144-player field, the top 65 and ties making the cut will receive prize money. The golfer finishing last on the leaderboard will return home with $53,750. The TPC Sawgrass event will be one of the biggest on the PGA Tour schedule.

Apart from the prize money, The Players Championship winner will earn 80 Official World Golf Ranking points along with 600 FedEx Cup points. The champion will also enjoy perks, including a five-year exemption on the PGA Tour and an automatic inclusion into next year's Tournament of Champions.

The 2023 Players Championship will kickstart on Thursday. Viewers can watch the event from the opening round on the Golf Channel. The last two rounds will be televised on NBC on Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the radio broadcast of the event will also be available on SiriusXM.
