Joaquin Niemann expressed his disappointment at not being picked for the 2024 Presidents Cup. He said that teams were supposed to pick the best golfers, which they aren't doing at the moment.

Joaquin Niemann has had a great season, winning two titles on the LIV Golf circuit. He's second in the season standings, but all these achievements weren't enough to get him on the International team squad for the Presidents Cup. For the uninitiated, LIV-associated professionals were not considered for the biennial event.

On Tuesday, September 10, Niemann said that it's dissapointing and that he would love to be part of the International team.

"It’s supposed to be the best golfers around the world & they’re not doing that right now," he said as per Bunkered. "I do believe we (the Internationals) have a strong team, but it could be an even stronger team. I’d love to see the Americans lose," he added.

The International team led by Mike Weir will feature Hideki Matsuyama, Sungjae Im, Adam Scott, Tom Kim, Jason Day and Byeong Hun An as the automatic picks. Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, Si Woo Kim, Min Woo Lee and Taylor Pendrith are the six names picked by the captain.

What's next for Joaquin Niemann?

Joaquin Niemann will next compete at LIV Golf Chicago, which will take place from Friday, September 13, to Sunday, September 15, at Bolingbrook Golf Club. Niemann is second in the LIV Golf standings, just three points behind leader Jon Rahm. The Chilean golfer still has a chance to secure the individual championship in the final event of the season before the team championship.

Niemann and other LIV pros will then head to Dallas for the LIV Golf Team Championship, which will be played from September 20 to 22 at Maridoe Golf Club.

Joaquin Niemann has won LIV Golf Mayakoba and LIV Golf Jeddah this year. In addition, he finished as the runner-up at LIV Golf UK and secured six other top-10 finishes. He also made the cut in all three majors he played this year, with his best result being a T22 finish at the Masters Tournament.

Here's a look at Niemann's result in LIV Golf this season:

  • LIV Golf Mayakoba: P1
  • LIV Golf Las Vegas: T30
  • LIV Golf Jeddah: 1
  • LIV Golf Hong Kong: T4
  • LIV Golf Miami: T9
