Nelly Korda will not be a part of the upcoming 2025 Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. The World No. 1 hasn’t been having the best season so far this year. She is yet to grab a win. And on top that, she had a rather underwhelming performance at the ShopRite LPGA Classic last weekend.
After a tough week at the ShopRite LPGA Classic in Galloway, New Jersey, Korda gave fans an update through Instagram. She posted a series of photos from the event, offering a glimpse into her time on the course. Alongside the images, she let her followers know that she would be stepping away for a short break. Her caption simply read:
"Heading into an off week 😃"
Korda’s decision to take time off isn’t out of the ordinary. In a 2024 interview, she spoke about the importance of knowing when to rest. She explained that taking breaks is part of how she manages both her physical and mental well-being, saying she’s learned to listen to her mind when it tells her to slow down.
Nelly Korda confessed on social media following her performance at the 2024 Chevron Championship:
"It was not an easy decision. After the unbelievable week at the Chevron and grinding through the mental and physical challenges of four events in the past five weeks, I am definitely feeling exhausted. With so much still to come throughout 2024, I feel I need to listen to my body and get some rest so that I can be ready for the remainder of the season.”
This could explain why Nelly Korda has decided not to compete in the upcoming Meijer LPGA Classic, set to begin on June 12 at Blythefield Country Club.
How did Nelly Korda perform at the 2025 ShopRite LPGA Classic?
Nelly Korda opened the ShopRite LPGA Classic with an even-par round, recording four birdies and four bogeys on the day. Though her start was steady, she began to gain ground over the weekend. Saturday saw a strong performance from the World No. 1, who nearly went bogey-free aside from a single slip on the 12th hole. She countered it with six birdies, finishing the round at 5-under.
Korda carried that momentum into Sunday and delivered an even better showing. Despite four bogeys, she bounced back with five birdies, and the highlight of her round came with a hole-in-one on the ninth. She wrapped up the day at 8-under.
While her weekend surge was impressive, it wasn’t enough to fully recover from a rough outing on Friday. As a result, Korda ended the tournament just outside the top 10.
