Nelly Korda might be the World No. 1 player on the LPGA Tour, but she sure is not having the best season this year. She appeared at the ShopRite LPGA Classic by Acer last weekend in New Jersey, and well, the result was disappointing.
Nelly Korda finished at T15 with a score of 8-under. However, she is back to the grind right after the disappointment. A few hours ago, she took to her official Instagram account and shared a picture of herself in the story.
She was seen donning all black, wearing a gym co-ord set. A solid bralette and a pair of tights, paired with white socks, and a Stanley bottle in her hands. In the caption, she wrote, in all capitals:
“Just absolute BB vibes”.
Nelly Korda kickstarted the ShopRite LPGA Classic with an even par opening round. She carded four bogeys and four birdies. The World No. 1 started compensating on the final two days. On Saturday, she went almost bogey-free, carding only one on the twelfth hole.
But to make up for it, she carded six birdies throughout the round. Nelly Korda ended up with an impressive 5-under. She entered the Sunday round with the same momentum and resulted in an even better score.
Although she carded four bogeys, she made up for it with five birdies, and things got even better with her ace on the ninth hole. She ended the round with an 8-under.
However, the two rounds could not compensate for her disappointing round on Friday, and she finished below the top 10.
Nelly Korda set to take a break after the ShopRite LPGA Classic disappointment
Nelly Korda is still in pursuit of her first victory of the season. Despite delivering strong performances at numerous events and maintaining a solid level of consistency, she has yet to secure a win. Most recently, she participated in the 2025 ShopRite LPGA Classic, where expectations were high, but her showing ultimately didn’t meet those hopes.
After a challenging week in Galloway, New Jersey, Korda took to Instagram to share an update with her fans. Alongside a collection of photos from the tournament, she announced she would be taking some time off. Her caption simply read:
"Heading into an off week 😃"
This isn’t the first time Korda has stepped away from competition for a brief rest. In a 2024 interview, she explained her approach to these breaks, sharing how she values listening to her mental and physical needs.
This same mindset likely influenced her decision to skip the upcoming Meijer LPGA Classic, scheduled to begin on June 12 at Blythefield Country Club. When do you think the World No. 1 will play next?
