Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Impressive Gareth Bale's sail troubled by high winds as the Welshman misses out on final round

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am - Round Three
Gareth Bale's Pro-Am is finished

Gareth Bale has had an impressive start to his post-football golf career. The former Wales star recently retired from football and has already become one of the most popular celebrity golfers.

He made his first real appearance at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he had a decent start. Unfortunately, that didn't last as he missed out on playing in the final round.

High winds caused a postponement in the tournament, which will now consist of just 54 holes. At this stage, only professional golfers can participate, hence Gareth Bale missed out on his final opportunity despite a solid overall performance thus far.

Bale's partner Joseph Bramlett is tied for second with a -10 after 13 holes of his third round. That places him just two shots behind leader Peter Malnati, who is -12 after 12.

Despite the tournament coming to a close early, Bale is happy with his time there. The former footballer said via Sky Sports:

"I am a big golf fan and appreciate what these players do on the golf course. It is great to play with them, interact and watch what they do. Just watching him [Bramlett] strike a ball is just something else."
"The power, the touch. He has been incredible and he is an even better guy, which is more important. I couldn't have asked for a better partner."

Gareth Bale added:

"At my house in Wales, I have a replica of the 17th hole at Sawgrass, the Postage Stamp at Royal Troon and the 12th at Augusta, minus the water as it is a bit close to the house!"

Bale was not the only celebrity to have their day cut short. The full list of celebrities includes:

Gareth Bale's retirement from football

Gareth Bale had an illustrious career and is 33 years old, which is relatively old for a footballer. Following his decision to retire, he released a statement on January 9, 2023 (via ESPN):

"After careful and thoughtful consideration, I announce my immediate retirement from club and international football. I feel incredibly fortunate to have realised my dream of playing the sport I love."
"It has truly given me some of the best moments of my life. The highest of highs over 17 seasons, that will be impossible to replicate, no matter what the next chapter has in store for me."
