LIV Golf star Phil Mickelson recently reacted to a video featuring a Santa Barbara County supervisor, Laura Capps. He slammed the supervisor for her statements in the video, implying that she is an “unethical” politician who lets her emotions get the best of her.
Mickelson has won 45 events on the PGA Tour and is tied with Walter Hagen for the eighth-most wins of all time. A six-time major champion, he has claimed the trophy in all major tournaments except the US Open. He joined LIV Golf in 2022 and is yet to claim a title in the league.
On Saturday, June 7, the Daily Compounder shared an episode of NewsmakersWithJR featuring Capps. In the episode, the supervisor spoke about several issues, including President Donald Trump’s proposed Medicaid cuts and her dislike for CDP permits.
Phil Mickelson, who never hesitates to express his political views, quoted the video. He claimed that Capps was playing “personal politics” and criticized her for being unfair in denying and approving permit appeals.
"Not only that, she says the transfer of permits is “Mercky” after a 2-2 vote on appeal... She talks about the permits, that she doesn’t like them. But proves they’re valid and the CCC has no standing for PI but she and the CCC and others are doing all they can to circumvent the law based on their personal politics. That’s not how this works,” he tweeted.
“I hope Judge Anderle and Geck are paying attention and follow the law and not the emotions of these unethical politicians and organizations. This sh*t needs to stop,” he added.

In a separate post, Phil Mickelson similarly called out Superior Court Judge Donna Geck. He accused her of playing personal politics after she granted temporary restraining orders preventing Sable Offshore from transporting oil through the Las Flores Pipeline System. His tweet read:
“Superior court judge Donna Geck using state law to violate federal law for her personal politics during a national energy emergency.”
Despite accusing Geck of playing “personal politics,” the California-born golfer defended Judge Anderle, another superior court judge of Santa Barbara County. He called him a “fair judge” for his stance on Sable Offshore CDP permits.
Phil Mickelson reveals his favorite senator ever
Last week, Phil Mickelson quoted a video compilation highlighting some of United States Senator John Kennedy’s funniest moments. He wrote:
“By far my favorite (and best) senator EVER.”
Here’s a look at Phil Mickelson’s tweet:
Before becoming a senator, Kennedy was the treasurer of Louisiana from 2000 to 2017. He has served in the U.S. Senate since 2017 and is currently serving in the 118th Congress. Last year, he was voted among the top 10 most popular senators in the U.S. according to a Morning Consult poll.
