Scottie Scheffler has committed to playing the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open, joining the stellar field, including Rory McIlroy. It’s a co-sanctioned tournament by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
Scheffler has missed the event in 2024, however, he was pretty impressive with his game when he last played at the Genesis Scottish Open in 2023. He settled in T3 after carding the four rounds of 68, 65, 67, and 70.
Genesis Scottish Open has confirmed the presence of the World No. 1 for the event in 2025 by sharing a post on X, writing:
"OFFICIAL: The best player in the world returns to the Renaissance Club! 🏴 Scottie Scheffler, joins an already star-studded field at this year’s #GenesisScottishOpen!"
Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler missed this week’s RBC Canadian Open, a regular PGA Tour event, which started with its opening round on Thursday, June 5, at TPC Toronto in Canada. He won last week's Memorial Tournament and missed this week’s event before playing in the U.S. Open next week.
The 2025 Genesis Scottish Open could be a good experience for Scheffler to practice on European soil ahead of The Open Championship 2025. The final fourth Major of the year is scheduled to take place just a week after the Scottish Open, from July 17 to 20 at Royal Portrush Golf Course in Portrush, Northern Ireland.
Meanwhile, the Genesis Scottish Open is scheduled from July 10 to 13 at The Renaissance Club in Scotland. Robert MacIntyre is the defending champion of the event.
A look into Scottie Scheffler's performance in 2025
After an incredible run in the 2024 season on the PGA Tour, where Scottie Scheffler won seven tournaments on the circuit, he has continued with a remarkable run in 2025 as well. The American has so far played in 12 PGA Tour events and recorded wins in three of them, and has one runner-up finish.
Scheffler has been pretty impressive in his last few outings, recording three wins and a T4 finish in his last four starts. He won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, and the PGA Championship, but settled in T4 at the Charles Schwab Challenge to miss an opportunity to make a victory hat trick. He seized a victory in his next outing at the Memorial Tournament last week. He won the tournament in 2024 as well and successfully defended the title in 2025.
Meanwhile, some of his other notable performances this season included T3 at The Genesis Invitational, solo fourth at the Masters, T8 at RBC Heritage, and T9 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He recorded a T2 finish for the second consecutive year at the 2025 Texas Children's Houston Open.
