Who is leading the 2024 US Women's Open after day 1? Leaderboard explored

The first round of the 2024 US Women's Open was played on Thursday, May 30, at Lancaster Golf Club in Pennsylvania. The course was one of the main protagonists of the day with only four players achieving scores under par.

2021 US Women's Open champion Yuka Saso leads the 2024 edition of the event with a score of 2 under. Despite the demanding course, the competition was fierce, with 20 players within three strokes or less of the leader.

Yuka Saso's performance in the first round of the 2024 US Women's Open included five birdies and three bogeys. While one of the amateurs (Adela Cernousek) surprised by finishing second, two others (Megan Schofill and Asterisk Talley) finished the round in the Top 5.

Among the highlights of the first round was Nelly Korda scoring 10 on the 12th hole to finish tied for 137th on the day at the US Women's Open. Korda sent three balls into the water, before reaching the green with her eighth shot, and then two-putted to finish the hole.

Sophia Popov carded the 33rd ace in U.S. Women's Open history on the 8th hole at Lancaster Golf Club. Popov finished the round tied for 22nd with a score of 2 over par. In eight previous starts in 2024, she has made just two cuts, one on the Ladies European Tour and the other on the LPGA Tour.
