On Sunday afternoon, multiple sources reported that Jakob Chychrun would find a new home in Los Angeles and that Kings’ first-round pick Brandt Clarke would move the other way to the Coyotes. The trade was first reported by former NHL player Nick Kypreos.

However, later in the day, things got complicated when multiple sources said that the Kings organization informed Clarke that he would not be traded for the Coyotes defender.

NHL Twitter went bonkers over the surprising turn of events and some picked out moments from Super Bowl LVIII to better express the current situation of the Chychrun trade talks.

Twenty-four-year-old Chychrun is a hot commodity in the trade market as he has shown great defensive prowess throughout the season. He has 27 points this season from seven goals and 20 assists.

Chyrchrun was healthy to play in the Coyotes' game against the St. Louis Blues but he was a healthy scratch due to "trade related reasons."

The Kings are not the only team involved in the Chychrun sweepstakes. The Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers have all been rumored to be all in on the big burly defenseman.
