The 2018-19 season of Indian Super League is nearing its end with Bengaluru FC, FC Goa, Northeast United, and Mumbai City FC being the only four sides remaining in contention to lift the trophy. Bengaluru FC became the first team to qualify for the playoffs after FC Pune City obliterated Jamshedpur FC 4-1 on 16th February. FC Goa followed the suit on 18th February after beating Kerala Blasters 3-0 two days later.

In a match to determine who would end as the table toppers, Bengaluru FC thrashed the Gaurs 3-0 despite playing the majority of the match with a man down. Consequently, FC Goa finished second in the league standings with 34 points.

The third team to qualify for the semi-finals were Mumbai City FC, who booked their playoff tickets after defeating ATK 3-1 on 22nd February. They finished with 30 points in the points table.

Northeast United FC qualified as the final competitor in the four-way horse race after Jamshedpur FC shared the spoils with Chennaiyin FC a day later. The Highlanders' draw to Kerala Blasters on 27th February ensured they stayed put to their fourth spot.

The final of the Indian Super League doesn't call for curtains for the 2018-19 season of Indian football. The AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers will begin from March 22, with India locking horns with Tajikistan in the opening encounter. The Hero Super Cup will begin from March 29 and the qualifiers will start from March 15.

The top six teams from both the leagues have received automatic qualification whereas the other four spots would be filled by the clubs coming through the qualifying round. All the matches of the tournament will be held at the Kalinga Stadium with the finals on April 13.
