The Jaipur Pink Panthers have put together a sensational run in Pro Kabaddi

5 losses in their first 6 games and it seemed all but over for defending champions – Jaipur Pink Panthers in the ongoing season of the Pro Kabaddi League. Like most other great sporting teams though, they refused to be meek and have fought back valiantly.

Currently on a five-match unbeaten run, the Jaipur based franchisee haven’t just done well but ensured that with 3 matches to play, they remain frontrunners to seal a play-off spot too.

Talking straight after last night’s win over Puneri Paltans, raider Sonu Narwal explained how the team has managed to pull off, “We were a little complacent to start with and hence initially this season, some of the results didn’t go our away. After last year’s win, I assume we got a little overconfident but then the losses at home came as a rude wake up call for all of us.

“It reminded the squad how all teams are pretty evenly matched in the league and being smug wouldn’t do us any good. That, however, has changed over the last 2 weeks or so, the team regrouped and all of us put in a lot of effort to revive our lost momentum. The results are for everyone to see,” said Sonu.

So supreme has been their form that they eased past the team from Pune last night even without their inspirational raider – Jasvir Singh.

“He fell ill after last night’s game and hence couldn’t take court today,” clarified Sonu.

As everyone at the Thyagaraj Stadium noticed though, the team from the Pink City seldom showed signs of vulnerability in Jasvir’s absence. Also if they continue to shine as they are currently, owner Abhishek Bachchan’s claim of pulling off a second straight title might not be too farfetched after all.
