Dabang Delhi K.C. are determined to outperform the other teams this season and are expected to put up a strong challenge for the final four spots. Though the team performed well as a whole in Season 2 of the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League, luck eluded them at the most important moments, and they couldn’t make it to the semi-finals of the competition, despite very promising signs.
Having retained their top performing players like Kashiling Adake, Ravinder Pahal and Rohit Kumar Choudhary. It would be fair to say that these three represent the best signings ahead of Season 3, but Delhi’s recruitments ahead of the tournament’s third coming send a strong signal of intent.
Former Puneri Paltan skipper Wazir Singh’s arrival makes Dabang Delhi one of the fearsome units, especially with Ravinder Pahal’s defensive qualities in the squad. We take a look at how their squad shapes up going into Season 3, highlighting the men who have been drafted in.
Raider Signings
Wazir Singh is by far the biggest signing in this department. Wazir’s partnership with Kashiling Adake and Rohit Kumar Chaudhary could be really lethal and that combination of experience and exuberance could take Dabang Delhi places. Pravin Niwale, who also impressed for the Puneri Paltan last term, has also joined the Delhi franchise, making them one of the most fearsome attacking units.
Apart from the big name signings, Dabang Delhi have also added Anil Nimbolkar, Mukesh Jaglan, Services star Surjeet Narwal and Lo Chia Wei from Chinese Taipei into their raiding department, increasing their depth and adding more strength to the raiding department.
Defender Signings
The biggest defensive signings by the Dabang Delhi includes Rajaguru Subramanian from the Telugu Titans and Seong Ryeol Kim fron the Bengal Warriors.
In the two seasons so far, Rajaguru Subramanian racked up a total of 35 points in 26 games. Kim didn’t feature a lot for the Kolkata outfit in the previous campaigns, but he was largely effective whenever he took to the court and Dabang Delhi would be hoping that the two would add another dimension to their squad.
Kuldeep Singh is another defensive import, coming from the Jaipur Pink Panthers, 18-year-old Sandeep Dhull and services player Anil Narwal will also add some energy to the Dabang Delhi defence.
Navjot Singh, Gnanasekaran M, Rakesh Singh Kumar, Ravinandan G.M. and Sushil Bhosale are the other players who have been added to the Dabang Delhi squad as defenders.
Overall balance
With a great balance of youth and experience in their ranks, Dabang Delhi will be hoping to cash in during season three and showcase their supremacy to their fans.
All the franchises have been shrewd in making signings this campaign, but Dabang Delhi’s dealings have put the side in with a real chance of making the semi-finals this season and possibly even beyond that to achieve greater success.
