Puneri Paltan have had yet another disappointing season. Struggling with a weak defence early on in the campaign, injuries added to the Puneri Paltan’s woes as in-form raiders Yogesh Hudda and Pravin Niwale suffered injuries at the wrong time as skipper Wazir Singh played through the pain on several occasions.

But, with little left to play for the Puneri Paltan this season, coach Ashok Shinde confirmed that Captain Wazir Singh and star raider Pravin Niwale will take no further part this season.

The injuries to the duo adding up to Jitesh Joshi’s injury yesterday, the Paltan is reduced to bare bones and face a struggle to field 10 fit players. But, the injuries to key players will give a chance to their foreign contingent to take part in the games from the start for the first time.

It will be a great exposure for Simon Kibura and David Mosambayi from Kenya. Simon is also a crowd favorite and has received great backing whenever he has made appearances from the bench.

Apart from the foreign players, many other youngsters will have an opportunity to prove their worth to their coach and make him have them in their plans for next season. Wazir Singh and Pravin Niwale have been at the thick of all the good things which the Puneri Paltan have done this season and have accumulated 103 raid points among themselves this season.

So, the Paltan will have their task cut out against the Patna Pirates today, who will be deperate to win knowing the situation they are in at the moment. So the news of the injuries to the duo will come as a major boost for the Pirates who will look to make the game against the Jaipur Pink Panthers a virtual quarter final.
