The ongoing 13th South Asian Games 2019 has started from December 1, 2019 and will culminate on December 10, 2019 in Kathmandu-Pokhara, Nepal. Kabaddi event in the 2019 South Asian Games will get played in 4th-9th December 2019 in APF Hall Hallchowk, Kathmandu.
The men's category comprises of five teams, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Four teams have got announced in the women's bracket: India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The weight category for men should not be more than 85kgs, while for the women's, it should not exceed 75kgs.
Kabaddi got introduced in the 1985 South Asian Federation Games. India has been the most successful side with nine gold medals, followed by Pakistan, who won the gold medal in the 1993 SAF Games. India was victorious with the gold medal in both men's and women's category, in the recent South Asian Games held in Guwahati, 2016.
The matches will get contested, with each team squaring off against the other once. The teams that finish on the top-2 will play the final of each category, while the third-ranked team will get the bronze medal.
