India and Pakistan registered remarkable victories on the second day of the men's Kabaddi event in the ongoing South Asian Games 2019. In the women's category, reigning gold-medalists India along with the hosts Nepal depicted their dominance to win their respective matches held in the APF Hallchowk, Kathmandu.
The Indian men's team opened their account with a hefty win over Sri Lanka in the opening match of the day. The likes of Pawan Sehrawat and Naveen Kumar scored consistent raid points to establish a mammoth 16-point lead in the first half 25-9. Sri Lanka couldn't mount a comeback at any stage of the game, as India thrashed them with 49-16 margin.
Pakistan men's revived themselves in the competition after their humiliating loss against Sri Lanka on Day 1. They inflicted early all outs upon the Bangladesh team, dominating in both offense and defense. The raiding charge led by Mudassir Shah helped Pakistan trounce Bangladesh 37-21 in the morning session.
The Indian women's team consolidated a spot in the Final after dethroning Bangladesh in the evening session. Sonali Shingate raided upfront for India as the Priyanka-led side conquered the Bangladesh defense with a 47-16 winning margin. Bangladesh had to suffer from an early exit in the competition.
Hosts Nepali women's team clinched their second victory of the event against Sri Lanka in the final clash of the evening. Bangladesh, on the back of their previous loss, didn't find a way to stop the raiders from Nepal. Maya Basnet led her team to 28-24 win in a low scoring affair as they registered a spot in the gold medal match for a clash against India.
