Top 5 defenders from week 2 of Pro Kabaddi League season 4

Week 2 of Pro Kabaddi League season 4 saw the eight franchises compete against each other in the Hyderabad and Patna. After two weeks of the tournament, Patna Pirates lead the table with 26 points in 7 matches, having lost just 2 games in the process.

Jaipur Pink Panthers had a good week as well, as they stand second in the table with 25 points in 7 matches. Puneri Paltan are third with the same number of points as Jaipur and U Mumba are fourth with 22 points in 7 matches.

The second week saw defenders go about their usual business, as players like Mohit Chhillar, Sachin Shingade and Manjeet Chhillar were mostly successful in subduing raiders and stopped them from scoring points.

Young guns like Ravinder Pahal and Sandeep Dhull showed an amazing display of their skill to ensure the raiders were unsuccessful in their attempts to score raid points.

Sachin Shingade – Dabang Delhi

Dabang Delhi finally brought an end to the 5-match unbeaten streak of Patna Pirates, by defeating them 33-15 in their own backyard. The match saw everything going right for Delhi, as they outclassed Patna in both offense and defense. The raiders were on point and scored points for the team with ease, but it was the defenders who won the match for Delhi.

Sachin Shingade had a big role to play in the victory. He made sure Pardeep Narwal, who is having a phenomenal season was not allowed to score points at will, and was successful in his mission. He collected 4 tackle points in the match as Pardeep and the other raiders were left clueless on the court as they went for raids. He stands second on the list of top defenders after week 2, with 25 successful tackles to his name.

Amit Hooda – Jaipur Pink Panthers

Jaipur Pink Panthers completely dominated Dabang Delhi in a match that was considered by many to be one of the most one sided games of this season. Jaipur won the match 51-28 as nothing went wrong for them in the match.

The raiders had a very good day as they easily scored points, and the defenders made sure the raiders of Delhi were not allowed to get the upper hand.

Amit Hooda had a dream match as he scored 8 tackle points in the match, which included a super tackle. He stopped the Delhi raiders from scoring points, and his performance earned him a lot of praise from the fans and critics alike. He now has 19 successful tackles this season, and stands 5th in the list of top defenders for this season.

Kuldeep Singh – Patna Pirates

Patna Pirates had another good day in the office as they defeated Bengaluru Bulls 31-25 at home to win their fourth match in succession. The match was a closely contested affair which Patna won by showing their superior skills on the court.

Kuldeep Singh, the young defender put on a great performance for his side as he scored 7 tackle points in the match.

He was too good on the mat as most of the raid attempts by the Bulls were foiled by him. His 7 tackle points also included 2 super tackles, which earned him the best defender of the match award.

He has 15 successful tackles to his name so far and stands 12th on the list of top defenders, and is one of the mainstays in Patna’s defence.

Dharmaraj Cheralathan (Patna Pirates)

The Pirates’captain had an age-defying performance against Bengal Warriors and did not put one foot wrong as he went on a rampage and completely annihilated the opposition raiders and their hopes of scoring points. His superb performance helped his team win the match 35-21, as he led by example and inspired his team to give a splendid performance on the court.

He scored 9 tackle points in the match and was an immovable wall that did not allow the raiders to move and score points at will. His 9 tackles also included 4 super tackles as the Bengal raiders couldn’t think of a plan to outsmart him.

He has 14 successful tackles till now this season, and is expected to have many more such brilliant performances for his side.

Manjeet Chhillar (Puneri Paltan)

Manjeet Chhillar showed a tremendous display of his all-round skills and proved why he is considered to be one of the best kabaddi players in the country as he helped the Puneri Paltans defeat Bengal Warriors 38-31 in the 25th match of PKL Season 4, to reach the third position in the table.

He scored 7 tackle points in the match as his ankle holds and dashes stopped most Bengal raiders from scoring points. He was ably supported by Ravinder Pahal as the duo thwarted Pune.

Chhillar also showed his raiding skills by fetching 4 crucial raid points for his team, as the Pune captain turned out to be the best player in the match. He has 23 successful tackles in 7 matches, and comfortably sits third in the list of top defenders after week 2.
