Storm Queens produced a solid defensive performance as they beat Ice Birds 21-15 to notch their first win of the season. Deepika Joseph and Sonali Ingale marshaled the Storm Queens defence superbly and scored five points each.

Storm Queens remain bottom of the table with eight points from three games whereas Ice Divas are top of the table with 11 points from four games.

Storm Queens opened their account with a tackle point in the second minute and Ice Divas followed it up with their own tackle point in next minute as it was 1-1 in the third minute. Storm Queens skipper Tejaswini Bai scored her first raid point in the fourth minute as they led 3-1.

Ice Divas struggled terribly in the first half as they failed to score a single raid point as Storm Queens stormed to a 6-2 lead after 10 minutes. Their defenders got the back in the game with a super tackle as they trailed 4-6 after 11 points. Sakshi Kumari scored a raid point in 12th minute as Storm Queens led 8-4. Storm Queens inflicted an all out in the 13th minute to lead 13-4 as Tejaswini Bai scored a two-point raid. Abhilasha Mhatre scored the first raid point for Ice Divas in the 14th minute as they trailed 5-13. Storm Queens led 14-6 at the end of the first half.

Storm Queens defence continued to impress as they led 17-7 after 20 minutes with Sonali Ingale scoring four points and Deepika Joseph three points. Ice Divas defence tried hard to get tackle points as they trailed 11-19 after 25 minutes but with their raiders struggling it was an uphill task. Deepika Joseph achieved a “high five” as Storm Queens led 20-11 after 27 minutes. Ice Divas skipper Abhilasha Mhatre had a disappointing game and scored just one point as Ice Divas crashed to a 15-21 defeat.
