That's it from the 2nd game of Big Bash League 12, the Strikers are off to a great start with a win. This is me, Divyansh signing off on behalf of my partner, Arya. Stay tuned at Sportskeeda. Goodbye.
Matthew Short has been awarded the Player of the Match. Here is what he had to say: The key message was to have fun, having given good starts during the last season helped us. It's nice to get a win on the board early, we wanted to get a good start in the batting PP and that helped us settle later on. He brings massive leadership to the group, not just with the bat, hopeful of spending more time in the middle. It was a complete performance in the end, we were good in all three facets of the game
Match Summary-

Adelaide Strikers win by 51 runs.

Sydney Sixers: 133/7 (20.0)
Jordan Silk 36 (25) | Josh Phillippe 26 (23)
Henry Thorton 4/20 (4.0) | Rashid Khan 3/21 (4.0)

All round performance from the Strikers as they start of their campaign with a massive victory. Short with the bat and then Thorton and Rashid with the ball helps them get the victory.

The Sixers never really got going in this chase, they lost 2 early wickets in the third over and they were always behind the run rate. The lack of boundaries and continuous fall of wickets had the required rate go up and above their reach in the end by a big margin. Silk, Phillippe and Henriques got their starts but could not continue. They only scored 9 boundaries in total and 0 sixes.

Thorton with career best figures of 4/20, he started off with 2 wickets in his first over and bowled economically. He then got 2 more in 19th over, and was looking to get the fifth as well. Rashid Khan, the wicket taking machine, as usual with a 3-wicket haul rattled the middle order and did not give away runs as well. Siddle and Short bowled economically as well and helped the team defend this huge total.

19.6 Peter Siddle to Hayden Kerr, ends the match with a fullish one around off. Sliced away down the ground and completes a couple. This has been a commanding performance by the Adelaide Strikers.
19.5 Peter Siddle to Hayden Kerr, a slower full toss on the middle-stump. Hayden Kerr shuffles across the off-stump and ramps that over the short fine leg fielder for a couple of runs.
19.4 Peter Siddle to Hayden Kerr, fuller-length delivery on middle. Pushed away down the ground by Kerr towards long-on and returns for a brace.
19.4 Peter Siddle to Hayden Kerr, that was an attempted slower one that goes wrong. Down the leg side and it has been called a wide.
19.3 Peter Siddle to Ben Dwarshuis, a low full toss outside off. Carved away by Dwarshuis down towards deep point and takes a single.
19.2 Peter Siddle to Hayden Kerr, that was angling down the leg side. On the fuller side around middle, Kerr was struck on the front pad but they will sneak a leg bye single.
19.1 Peter Siddle to Ben Dwarshuis, a low full toss outside off from Siddle. Squirted out by Dwarshuis down towards the cover region for a single.
No 5-wicket haul for Thorton but still career best figures of 4/20. Strikers are 6 legal deliveries away from a certain victory.

18.6 Henry Thornton to Hayden Kerr, again a couple of runs to end the over. Squeezes this yorker-length delivery down towards deep midwicket for a couple.
18.5 Henry Thornton to Hayden Kerr, flicks this length delivery on middle down towards deep midwicket and returns for a brace.
18.4 Henry Thornton to Ben Dwarshuis, Dwarsguis gets a leading edge down towards the deep cover region for a single.
Ben Dwarshuis, LHB, comes to the crease.
Thorton has 4 wickets now, with 3 balls left.
18.3 Henry Thornton to Sean Abbott, WICKET! Thornton is having a ball here. Cleans up Abbott on this occasion. Full and straight yet again, Abbott tries to be innovative and shuffles well across the off-stump to play the ramp. Doesn't make any contact and the ball strikes the base of the stumps. Can Thornton get a five wicket haul here?
