Thanks for tuning in to Sportskeeda for all the live coverage of the 1st ODI Match of the Australia - India series!

This has been Gaurav Kadam, and my colleague Habil Ahmed bringing you all the updates! Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for more news and updates on the sporting world!
Aaron Finch (Australia Captain): I found it reasonably hard to get my timing right today. We took a couple of chances and got lucky. We've barely been together as a team. Each guy has their own different strengths and weaknesses. As a captain, you need to embrace that. Davey, he's moving beautifully. His rhythm looked outstanding. Smudge was a different class altogether. Maxi, the rare ability he's got to just click his fingers and put pressure on the opposition.
Virat Kohli (Indian Captain): We had enough time to prepare for the match and don't think there can be any excuses. Probably the first long game we've played in a while since we have been playing T20 cricket for a while. That's something that can have an effect. The body language wasn't great after around 25 overs into the match. If you don't take your chances against a top-quality opposition they'll make you pay. Unfortunately, Hardik is not fit enough to bowl, and we don't have other all-round options to pick from either, someone like Marcus Stoinis like the Aussies do. From the batting point of view, we had a chat briefly now. All the batsmen committed to it which is why you saw us playing with intent. I think we gave ourselves the best chance considering the target we had been set. Hardik's innings was the best example of that. As a batting unit we committed nicely to positive cricket and we are going to do that in the future as well.
Steve Smith (Man of the Match): We have been searching for something for a couple of months now. About three days ago something just clicked. Finch and Warner played very well early on in the innings. I wasn't thinking too much out there, just seeing the ball and hitting it.  It was a good surface to bat on. Nice to contribute for a good win. Need a bit of luck in this game sometimes, nice to ride it today (getting his LBW overturned).

Australia beat India by 66 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the ODI Series!

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Australian openers set the stage for the big total with Aaron Finch and David Warner both racking up fifties without a loss of a wicket. After Warner departed, Finch carried on the momentum and reached his 17th ODI ton!

Steven Smith came in at No. 3 and played a brilliant knock of 105 runs in 66 balls peppered with 11 boundaries and four sixes! Glenn Maxwell played a quickfire cameo of 45 runs in just 19 balls with five boundaries and three sixes as Australia hammered a huge total of 374-6 for India to chase down!

Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal came out to open for the Men in Blue today. Despite a strong start to their innings courtesy of some poor bowling from Mitchell Starc, Indian batsmen crumbled under the pressure losing wickets quickly. Indian skipper Virat Kohli looked in fine touch to begin but had to depart at 21 in his attempt to play a big shot.

Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya took over at 101-4 and marshalled a partnership with patient hitting and rotation of strike as they dealt with the Aussie pace battery well. Pandya racked up 90 runs in 76 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes and Dhawan scored a knock of 74 runs. There were some contribution from the lower middle order as well but India fell short in the end by a huge margin of 66 runs!

Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa were the pick of the bowlers with 3 and 4 wickets respectively as they put a dent in their Indian chase!
Mitchell Starc comes in to bowl the final over for the Aussies and gets the wicket of Mohammed Shami with a searing yorker, his first scalp of the day! A single run off that over!

Australia have beaten India by 66 runs!
