Australia 191/10 & 93/2 (21 ov)
Australia won by 8 wickets
Player of the match: Tim Paine
Was an absolute privilege to bring to y'all the coverage of this unbelievable first test match. That's it from me, Vasisht Vasan, my colleague Nikhil, and all of us at Sportskeeda! There's enough to time to recover and come back fresh for Boxing Day. We'll see you then.
Josh Hazlewood: "We bowled a little bit fuller and straighter this morning, it helped that the wicket quickened up a bit. 36 all-out, so not a bad effort. I think we just got it right, we gave the ball a chance to swing by bowling fuller. We ticked a lot of boxes, matter of going to Melbourne and do what we did here for longer periods of time. Also, this Oval pitch had a little bit more grass than the previous two years."
Virat Kohli: "Very hard to put these feelings into words. Just collapsed, completely. We worked hard for two days and everything changed in an hour's passage of play. We should have shown intent with the bat in the second dig, that wasn't there. To be honest, there were some good balls but nothing overly threatening, they just found the edge. A combination of lack of intent and good areas by them did us in. A result in this game would have been really nice, we worked really hard. I'm sure the boys will reflect and come back stronger in Melbourne to make this series interesting."
Tim Paine is also awarded the man of the match!

Tim Paine: "Both our attacks had the ability to take 20 wickets, we just executed to perfection this morning. The idea last night while batting was to give our bowlers something to bowl at - full credit to Josh & Co. This win gives us enormous confidence going into Melbourne. We are thrilled about Joe Burns getting those runs"
Righto! If you are an Indian fan just tuning with hope against hope, it's not good news. Australia executed this non-threatening target to perfection. They played themselves in, showed the respect to the new ball, and climbed on anything loose. The Aussies will be especially pleased with Burns - he found something out there and got to an attractive fifty with a commanding hook shot which also sealed his team's win. Bumrah bowled his heart out knowing fully well the game was well out of reach. Saha did a Dhoni to pick Wade's wicket and provided some quiet cheer for his teammates.

India will rue those dropped catches. The second innings batting effort was there for all to see. Having said that, the Aussie quicks bowled some dream deliveries and did not bowl a single bad ball to speak of. Masterful display by Josh Hazlewood and Patty C, nothing much could be done.

Now to the presentation.
A disappointing loss for India after putting up a spectacular performance with the ball in the first innings! What a day this has been for Australia bundling out India for 36 and chasing this down comfortably.

Stay tuned as we bring the presentation ceremony to you!

Burns is really enjoying Ashwin here. He is picking the spinner's length in a flash and playing with supreme confidence. On the other end, Marnus went for glory with 8 to get and was holed out at mid-on. He makes way for his evolved version in Steve "Smudge" Smith.
