Australia is proving to be a tough territory for England to win a cricket game. Both, England's men's team and the women's team combined together are yet to a cricket match Down Under this summer. First, the men's team lost the five-match Ashes series 1-3 and now the women's team have lost the T20I series, managed a draw in the only Ashes Test and lost the opening encounter of the three-match ODI series. As a result, Australia's women team too also retain the Ashes.
But all is not lost for England. There are still two more ODI games to come. England can try and win those two matches and at least win the ODI series as a consolation and get ready to defend their ODI World Cup title.
The next ODI match of this three-match ODI series happens on Sunday. Join us then. For now, it is time to take your leave. Goodbye!
Meg Lanning: It is a good feeling to win the Ashes. Brown is great. She has the ability to pick wickets. McGrath is a good all-rounder. She is going from strength to strength with both bat and the ball. It is good to see everyone stepping up.
Heather Knight: The bowlers did well. But we had a chance to draw the series. We did not get partnerships going. We lost wickets regularly. It became hard to score. It is quick turnaround for us. We have to refocus. But the two remaining ODIs are important in the context of the World Cup.
Beth Mooney is the Player of the Match
Mooney: It is unbelievable. We came into the series with the aim to win the Ashes and we have done that. But we have to win the next two ODIs too. I have a stiff back hence we are being careful. The bowlers have been brilliant.
Australia win and retain the Ashes. The players shake hands. A T20I win, a drawn Test match and a win in the first ODI is enough for the Southern Stars to retain the Ashes.

44.6 Jess Jonassen to Kate Cross, IS THAT OUT? YES, IT IS! AUSTRALIA ARE CELEBRATING! Length delivery just outside off stump that holds in the surface. Cross looks for the drive on the up and arrows it towards the bowler, who goes low down to her right and completes a sharp catch to help Australia retain the Ashes! What a game this has been!
Kate Cross c and b Jonassen 17(26b 4x3 6x0)
44.5 Jess Jonassen to Kate Cross, tossed up on a length outside off stump. Cross lunges forward and plonks the ball into the off side towards extra cover
44.4 Jess Jonassen to Katherine Brunt, full delivery outside off stump. Brunt comes out of her bunker and knocks the ball down the ground towards long on for a single
44.3 Jess Jonassen to Katherine Brunt, length delivery on middle and leg stump. Brunt comes half forward and blocks the ball down the ground towards the bowler
44.2 Jess Jonassen to Kate Cross, back of a length delivery down the leg side. Cross goes back and tucks the ball off her hips towards short fine leg for another single
44.1 Jess Jonassen to Kate Cross, back of a length delivery on middle and leg stump. Cross goes back and pats the ball into the leg side towards mid wicket
An eventful over from King! Brunt and Cross are taking England closer and closer. The Aussies are getting nervous. They had about three chances in the previous few overs to win the match. But Cross and Brunt are denying Australia the win for the moment.

43.4 Alana King to Katherine Brunt, length delivery outside off stump. Brunt comes down the track and defends the ball into the off side towards extra cover
43.3 Alana King to Katherine Brunt, length delivery on middle and off stump. Brunt goes back and pokes the ball into the off side before haring across to the other end. Just gets there and then an overthrow allows another run

43.1 Alana King to Katherine Brunt, quicker and flatter on a length on off stump. Brunt looks for the late cut and just about manages to get some bat and dab it towards backward point
