That is all she wrote for this contest then - quite an enthralling one at that to round off the set of matches in Group A. The tournament now enters the knockouts phase tomorrow, starting with Sweden and Norway battling it out in a sudden death contest, before Spain and Belgium return for another face-off as the winner gets a direct entry into the final. Things are set up for a fitting finale in the first week of the European Cricket Championship, 2021, so do ensure to be back tomorrow for our coverage of the same. Thank you so much for tuning into our coverage of this contest and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did bringing it to you. For now, on behalf of my co-commentator Bala, this is Sooryanarayanan humbly reminding you to stay safe and get vaccinated in case you haven't already! Adios, good night and take care!
SHEER CARNAGE! That's been the story of this match and the second innings in particular. We've seen some spectacular run chases this week and this one sits right up there with the lot.

A steep chase of 135 certainly calls for a solid start. However, it was anything but that for Spain with Awais Ahmed holing out of the very first delivery. A couple of relatively tight overs applied the brakes on Kuldeep Lal and Jack Perman and a case of hara-kiri with a run-out chance gone begging meant that one could cut the tension out there with a knife!

That was when Perman and Lal decided that enough was enough as they went hell for leather - an attempt that saw Adnan Razzaq in particular buckle under pressure and dish out some freebies. All of a sudden, the pressure was transferred right back onto the Belgians in a matter of a couple of overs with a series of hit-me deliveries interspersed with no balls shifting the nature of the game!

From 18/1 in 2.4 overs, the score read 71 for the loss of no further wickets halfway through the innings - that pretty much sums up the kind of carnage that was on display with Kuldeep Lal tearing into the opposition bowler. His menacing mood seemed to rub off on the rest of the batters too as, despite his sudden dismissal, the Spaniards didn't take the foot off the gas by any means!

Hamza Saleem too came out dealing in sixes alone and Spain ensured that they were always ahead of the 8-ball with their 100 notched up in all of 7 overs. Jack Perman brought out a classic of his own in the chase and though he too, like Lal, fell four short of a half-century, Saleem ensured that the game was in the bag as Spain coasted to a handsome 7-wicket victory.

None - absolutely none of the Belgian bowlers had an answer to the assault coming their way from the Spanish batters. Having said that, a few decisions must be questioned - where was Saqlain Raja when a wicket was desperately the need of the hour? What was the point of keeping him back until the very last over? Luckily, the Belgians still finish in the top two and will have two bites at the cherry as far as making the final is concerned but there are grave issues to be addressed with regards to their bowling. Not in the least, the number of no balls that were sent down by Waqas Raja!
That will be it! The reactions in the dugout sum it up - the Spaniards are absolutely cock-a-hoop as they round off the group stages with a resounding victory! Spain win by 7 wickets with 4 deliveries to spare and finish on top of Group A!
9.2 Saqlain Raja to Hamza Saleem, full ball angling into off and middle. Saleem eases it to long-on and goes through for a single
9.1 Saqlain Raja to Hamza Saleem, SIX! That makes the scores level. What a hit! Length ball angling into the left-hander. Saleem takes the front leg away and mows it over the long-on boundary
Saqlain Raja to bowl the final over of the innings. He will bowl over the wicket.

An outing to forget if you are Waqas Raja! If only he hadn't overstepped that over, the equation could have been a lot tighter. Things can get nervy in the final over of the innings but with 7 runs needed off the last 6 deliveries, it is about that one big hit to kill the game!

8.6 Waqas Raja to Hamza Saleem, shortish delivery outside the off-stump. Saleem gets the top edge, but miscommunication between the keeper and the short fineleg means the ball falls in between the two fielders
8.5 Waqas Raja to Asjad Butt, short of a length angling into the right-hander. Pulls it away straight to the fielder at deep mid-wicket
You cannot bowl no balls at this stage of the innings but going by the replay on that previous one, it was probably worth three! Waqas overstepped by a mile and a half there!
8.5 Waqas Raja to Hamza Saleem, slower ball wide of off. Saleem gets the leading edge that goes straight up in the air. Keeper catches it, but it is a NO BALL once again from Raja. This is ridiculous from the medium-pacer
8.5 Waqas Raja to Hamza Saleem, good length delivery outside the off-stump. Saleem tries to go hard at it but gets no bat on it. He has over-stepped though. That's the third for the night from Raja
8.4 Waqas Raja to Asjad Butt, good length ball nipping back into the right-hander. Drags it across to deep mid-wicket for a single
Asjad Butt, RHB, makes his way to the crease. He will take strike.
After Kuldeep Lal, it is Jack Perman's turn to depart just shy of a much-deserved half-century! Take nothing away from a potentially match-winning innings though and he rightfully walks off to a raucous applause from the dugout.
8.3 Waqas Raja to Jack Perman, OUT! Low full toss outside the off-stump. Perman tries to go big downtown but connects with the toe end of the bat. Holds out to the fielder at long-off
Waqas is feeling the heat again! Something has to give now for Belgium!
8.2 Waqas Raja to Hamza Saleem, fuller ball outside the off-stump. Pushes it through the covers and takes a single
8.2 Waqas Raja to Hamza Saleem, tries to go wide of the off-stump but delivers the ball past the wide-mark. Has to reload that
8.1 Waqas Raja to Hamza Saleem, SIX! Length ball angling into the left-hander. He goes down on one knee and slogs it handsomely over the cow corner. That has gone a long way into the stands
