Perth Scorchers 175/6 after 20 overs, Brisbane Heat win by 6 runs.

What a thrilling finish to the match. Brisbane Heat had their season at stake till the last delivery of the match. Ben Laughlin delivered for his side when they needed him the most but not before Mitchell March played a blinder of 54 from just 26 balls. His fifty Perth Scorchers interested in the chase of 182 but it was not to be. Scorchers started slowly in the chase. The wicket had slowed down and Brisbane Heat spinners Mitchell Swepson and Marnus Labuschange picked the first five wickets of Scorchers. It looked like the fate of the match would be decided early but then the tide started to turn when Scorchers opted for their Power Surge. Marsh did all the big-hitting towards the end of the inning to take the match all the way down to the last over. But he could not win the match for Scorchers. Brisbane Heat won a thriller and also fetched the bonus points to qualify for the finals.

Earlier in the day, the first inning swung both ways. Brisbane Heat started well thanks to a swashbuckling fifty from its opener Chris Lynn. The right-handed batsman smashed four fours and four sixes en route to his fifty. For the time Lynn was out in the middle, it looked like Heat would take the total beyond 200. But there was a slump for Heat. They lost two wickets in the middle overs for just 26 runs. But then Marnus Labuschange and Lewis Gregory steadied the ship for Heats and improved the run rate. Scorchers pulled things back in the Power Surge overs. The two Power Surge overs resulted in only 11 runs at the loss of one wicket. But some useful hits towards the end of the inning has helped Heat go beyond 180.

Two wickets apiece for Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye. Liam Livingstone and Jhye Richardson picked up one wicket.

Marnus Labuschange ( 46 off 38 and 3/35) for his all-round show has been adjuged the Player of the Match.
Laughing delivers for Heat just when his team needed him the most. Heat win by six runs to qualify for the finals. What an exhilarating end to the first of the three BBL matches lined up today.
Over: 20 | Summary: 2 1 4 1 2 0 Bowler: Ben Laughlin Score: 175/6
19.6 Ben Laughlin to Mitchell Marsh, THE HEAT WIN BY SIX RUNS AND ARE THROUGH TO THE PLAYOFFS! A low full-toss on the stumps, Marsh gets down low but fails to get the elevation on it! He ends up heaving it along the ground to deep midwicket, paving the way for the Heat to clinch a well-deserved win!
7 needed off the last ball. If Marsh clears the boundary we are going into a Super Over! For Brisbane Heat this ball is all about saving their season.
19.5 Ben Laughlin to Mitchell Marsh, a full ball bowled outside off, Marsh digs it out to long-on for a quick double! The Scorchers can only tie the game here! Can Marsh do the unthinkable?
9 needed off 2 with Marsh on strike!
19.4 Ben Laughlin to Jhye Richardson, a short ball from Laughlin, Jhye pulls it awkwardly past the bowler and gets a single to get Marsh on strike!
10 needed off 3! This is a thriller. Super Over?????
19.3 Ben Laughlin to Jhye Richardson, FOUR! Jhye, you beauty! A full ball bowled outside off, Jhye gets in position early and smacks it to the cow-corner boundary!
14 needed of 4
19.2 Ben Laughlin to Mitchell Marsh, a full-toss bowled outside off, Marsh heaves it to the leg-side but only for a single! Over to Jhye now!
19.1 Ben Laughlin to Mitchell Marsh, a full ball bowled outside off, Marsh drives it to deep extra cover for a double, With that, he gets to fifty as well!
Seventeen runs off the over. Right then. This is the equation for Heats to stay alive. They need to stop Scorchers from getting 17 runs from the last 6 balls. Anyone fancy a Super Over? Ben Laughing to bowl the last over of the match. Marsh is on strike.
Over: 19 | Summary: 2 2 6 1 2 4 Bowler: Mark Steketee Score: 165/6
18.6 Mark Steketee to Jhye Richardson, FOUR! JHYE HAS HIT THE ALL-IMPORTANT BOUNDARY! A slower ball bowled outside off, Jhye gets in position and whacks it towards cow-corner for a boundary! All eyes on Marsh and Laughlin now!
18.5 Mark Steketee to Jhye Richardson, a short ball bowled outside off, Richardson pulls it over the bowler's head but it only travels as far as mid-on and they steal another brace!
18.4 Mark Steketee to Mitchell Marsh, a full ball bowled on the pads, Marsh flicks it to the cow-corner region but only for a single
Heat are throwing away this match with some poor death-over bowling. We have a thriller on our hands folks!
